I reopened my Etsy Shop earlier this week and listed the majority of art I've been playing with in recent weeks. They aren't perfect. They are alive with mistaeks. Mistaeks are mandatory!
Today I am sharing more about one of those listings.
This Wonky Queen was a favorite on Instagram. I made four girls on 5-inch by 5-inch, 140# watercolor paper using acrylics and ink. I taped the edges to create an instant matte border. I did them quick as to not think about it too much or let that insister of perfection offer her two cents. They were born from a variety of inspirations.
I often think of myself as the Queen of Denial. Here I am, the Queen of Misfits; never fitting in or knowing where I might belong. Mostly feeling as though I don't. I am different, simple and in-between all that is.
Each girl in the series is wonky and different in her own right. Most of the time I have no idea what I am doing. As I was creating these characters I was thinking about being seen. We each have our own stories and while we may often feel alone, we are not.
I see you.
The works currently listed in my shop are all experiments, play dates, inspired art I am now releasing to find forever homes. I ran out of paper, so perhaps you'd like to help me buy more. :)
